Sparking Sword Vacation and White Hunter Vacation

Police in Tasmania have issued a warning after a 74-year-old man lost $2,120 in what appears to be the latest variant of the Malaysian scratchie scam.

A glossy travel brochure and scratch cards arrive in the mail claiming to give the recipient the chance to win a luxury holiday or big amount of cash.

And surprise, surprise – one of the two tickets says it is a winner!

But you have to phone a Malaysia-based company and pay fees into an overseas bank account to release the prize.

No prizes for guessing that you won’t receive a luxury holiday or cash. The only winners are the scammers operating the bank account that victims deposit money into.

This year the brochure and scratch cards are supposedly from a company called Sparking Sword Vacation and White Hunter Vacation and it’s claiming to be a “12th anniversary” promotion.
